This is trip #3 with Kamper. After enjoying a big family meal on Thanksgiving, we headed to Kartchner Caverns State Park in Arizona. https://azstateparks.com/kartchner Two other families joined our adventure at this park.
This was our first experience with desert camping. It was absolutely beautiful.

We took a day to explore the caverns. You get to choose from two caverns, the Throne/Rotunda or the Big Room Tour. We rode a tram to the entrance of the cavern and then walked in and down into a room full of stalagmites and stalactites. I hear certain times of the year the cavern is full of bats as well! The tour took us about an hour and a half. Before and after the tour you can roam through their interactive museum as well.

The park is amazingly beautiful, especially at sunset. Watch out for the cactus! They can be pretty dangerous. Just ask my friend who landed in a massive prickly pear! OUCH. We spent over 30 mins pulling spines out of his body from head to toe. Apparently he continued to have spines expelled from his body over the next month or more too.

Overall I'd give this park, activities and campgrounds the highest rating of 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.
Tell me about other caves and caverns I should visit.
