Meet Kamper. She is a 2010 Forest River 176LTD MAC. She's a tiny 8' box pop up trailer. What a great little starter camper. She weighs under 1500 pounds unloaded. Perfect size to pull with my 2016 Honda Pilot (I now drive a 2017 Ford F150, but that is a story to be told in a future blog). When she is fully open she sports a full size and a twin size pull out. She has a dinette, a little sink, and a portable potty. I bought her used, replaced her tires, and added some led tape lights around the top of the roof inside.
Our first trip out was over Labor Day Weekend 2017. The Cartwrights, Smiths and Bierleins all headed north for cooler AZ weather. We decided to dry camp at Kinder Springs, AZ. Not only did I experience my first time towing in the mountains, in super steep elevations and grades, but also in the bumpy woods. I even backed the pup up between 2 pine trees. I did it! I felt like super mom! Next I set up my little camp area by myself and even set up an outdoor bathroom! The three families were able to create a circular camping spot. All of our doors faced each other with the fire ring in the middle. What fun! It was a fantastic time enjoying cooler weather, the outdoors, and friends!
